From a single data center to one of the largest national providers
Starting with a single small data center in Overland Park, Kansas, QTS has grown exponentially to become one of the largest and most successful data center providers. In less than ten years, the company has established a leadership position in this growing industry by owning, operating or managing an international portfolio of 25 data centers.
Chad Williams, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of QTS, founded the company in 2003. Mr. Williams leveraged his experience developing, owning and managing mission-critical facilities and began acquiring data centers with the strategy of building a national portfolio of data centers.
The growth has been steady and impressive
In 2005, the company acquired QTS Atlanta-Suwanee, and the 370,000 square foot data center soon became the flagship location and headquarters of QTS’ renowned Operations Service Center. Over the next few years, QTS strategically acquired data centers throughout the country, most recently the mega data center location in downtown Chicago.
Becoming NYSE: QTS
In 2009, a leading global equity firm, General Atlantic LLC partnered with QTS – providing the company with growth equity capital and a strategic vision for the future. The company announced its initial public offering and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol of “QTS” in October of 2013.
QTS and Carpathia – Bigger. Better. Stronger.
In 2015, QTS acquired Carpathia Hosting, Inc., a leading cloud and managed services company, as part of a strategic plan to strengthen and enhance QTS’ 3C platform. In turn, QTS is able to offer greater scale and flexibility across the existing real estate and technology platform.
