New Mega Data Center in Chicago to Use State-of-the-Art Sustainable Cooling System
Chicago’s data center options are about to become as green as the Chicago River on St. Patrick’s Day. QTS’ new mega data center, set to open in mid 2016, will utilize the Kyoto™ Cooling Solution, the most economical and efficient data center cooling technology on the market today.
The cooling system in our Chicago Data Center takes advantage of the local climate with modular, dry KyotoWheel™ technology. QTS Chicago was built to achieve an annualized power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.17, while championing flexibility and innovative mechanical cooling solutions.
With this technology, the QTS Chicago Data Center’s cooling system is sustainable in the following ways:
90% effective in heat rejection, maximizing constant free cooling hours
Highly efficient with no outside contaminants
Cools up to 40 KVA
Automatically accommodates load variations of 0–4 MW in 30 minutes
QTS is the only large, wholesale and colocation data center in the Chicago market using Kyoto cooling.
