How long have you been with QTS?

Almost 3 years

What has kept you with QTS as opposed to past companies you’ve been with?

I was recruited by a friend when I joined QTS and I have made so many more friends since joining. It’s really a pleasure to work with my team and all of the other teams that I get to interact with daily.  QTS is truly a family – all of these individuals from different locations and backgrounds come together and support each other, making this a great place to work.

What do you love most about QTS?

The QTS family! I have worked as part of several teams since starting QTS and all of them have been so welcoming and supportive. The departments, the local office groups, everyone is part of these close-knit teams that make up the larger QTS family and it’s a really wonderful thing to be a part of. I feel that I can trust and rely on all of the QTSers that I work with, whether it’s a work need or if I just want someone to talk to.

What led you to this position? How did you end up where you are today with QTS?

I have spent most of my career working in marketing for data centers. When I was approached about a product marketing opportunity for one of the largest data center companies, it sounded like an excellent opportunity.  My position has evolved in my time at QTS, which is one of the things I love about working here - I started working here in product marketing and I have been promoted to be a Director on the marketing team. The leaders at QTS encourage employees to grow and take on new challenges in their careers.  My promotion has been an exciting and I have been able to grow as a people leader. I also love collaborating with my fellow Marketing Director to develop the QTS marketing presence both internally and across the industry.

What has been your favorite part of working at QTS and why?

I love that we are constantly striving to innovate, this keeps things fresh and exciting. I have the privilege to work on a wide variety of projects, which means that no two days are ever the same. I may spend days working with the hyperscale team, researching sustainability trends, interviewing customers, developing materials for our facilities, working with the product development team, and more.  It is great that our teams are so open to collaboration and I love working with so many talented individuals across the company!

What role do you play for the company and its ESG efforts?

I am part of the Sustainability Leadership Team and I help our VP of Energy and Sustainability, Travis Wright, and the team with initiatives around sustainability throughout the year.  As part of the marketing team, we meet weekly to uncover ways to promote the ESG story at QTS in the marketplace, through events and speaking opportunities, press coverage, applying for awards, and more. We are always looking for ways to continually improve and move forward with our sustainability work, which is captured each year in our ESG Initiatives Report.

In light of the COVID pandemic, how has your work shifted? How have you adapted to working from home?

My work hasn’t changed too much, we have great tools to make collaborating easy enough and everyone has come together to communicate and get projects done quickly.  However, I do miss connecting with the team at the office and travelling to see my team members in other QTS locations. I also miss going to in-person training with QTSers from all over, as well as attending our WIL (Women in Leadership) events where a dedicated team brings inspiring leaders to speak with us on navigating career development for women.

What passions do you have outside of work? Any roles you hold outside of your position with QTS?

I have a passion for volunteer work and I hold leadership positions with a local non-profit, TechBridge, for their annual Digital Ball gala and the Tee It Up for TechBridge golf tournament.  I also enjoy travel and outdoor adventures, especially hiking.

What is your favorite way to spend your weekend or time off?

Reading, exploring new restaurants with my husband, working on our home, and watching movies.

Anything else you would like to share about your life or being a QTS employee?

QTS is a great place to work! One of my other favorite parts of working here is the commitment to learning and development. I have loved working with the Learning & Development team in training opportunities for myself, and also as a trainer on my products.
