Name: Kate Tioaquen

Title: Regional Site Operations Coordinator

QTS Location: Atlanta-Suwanee

How long have you been with QTS?

Since October 2012, it will be eight this year.

What do you love most about QTS? The people:

coworkers and clients

What led you to this position? How did you end up where you are today with QTS?

A friend I knew from a previous employer worked at QTS, encouraged me to apply for a Customer Service Rep position in the OSC.  Coming from a non-technical background, it was very intimidating because I did not feel like I would really have a place at QTS.  She told me I would learn what I did not know but it was who I was that would fit into the culture.

I learned a lot in the OSC and my interaction with different lines of business is what helped me move to Atlanta-Metro as the Facilities Services Coordinator.  It was a newer role for the company and the team at Metro was amazing at helping me through the many unknowns.  My role continued to expand throughout the company and I naturally began to transition myself to my current role, Regional Site Operation Coordinator.

In the end I learned, always be willing to help others when/if you can.  Pass on your knowledge and others will share theirs with you.

What has been your favorite opportunity with QTS and why?

My favorite opportunity was the move to Atlanta-Metro as the Facilities Services Coordinator.  In the OSC, you speak with every site, every line of business, but you never get to see people or what they do.  I had the opportunity to work with a team I had previously interacted with via phone/email.  I was able to gain knowledge of what it takes to keep a data center running.  It created a solid foundation for me and helped me understand two different views of the same processes.

What is your favorite core value and why?

I have to pick just one? J

The one that tugged at my heartstrings the most was community volunteerism.  I never worked for a company that not only promotes the helping of others; they give you paid days to go out and help the community!

What passions do you have outside of work?

I love teaching and taking yoga classes!  I am a 200 Hour Certified Yoga Instructor and earning that certifications was one of the best experiences.

What is your favorite way to spend your weekend?

I am a home body, so weekends where I don’t have to be running around everywhere are my favorite.  Allows me time for myself.

What makes QTS different from other places you’ve worked?

QTS has proven repeatedly that they care about employees.  It does not have to be grand or elaborate gestures, but sometimes the small things they do that mean the most.

Anything else you would like to share about your life or being a QTS employee?

I am a sucker for sweets and I always keep candy in my office to share with others.  So drop by for some conversation and a chocolate!
