Looking to a New Year

At the turn of each year, we take a moment to pause, reflect, and decide upon resolutions for the coming year. This is as true of the corporate world as it is in each of our personal lives. In both instances, we affirm new goals that align with personal or professional visions.

As we define these new goals and resolutions over the next few days, it is important to remember that it doesn’t take an impending New Year or a calendar to inspire us to commit to growth and transformation.

In mid-2017 QTS developed a very specific and strategic resolution: to become a major player in the hyperscale marketplace. We developed a series of architectural designs, assessed properties, and embarked upon the construction of “Project Joshua,” now called, “QTS Ashburn.”

In the 5 months since we broke ground on the project, we’ve blasted, graded, secured conduit lines and wall footers, placed steel framing, enclosed the data halls with tilt-walls, and we are now installing water resistant drywall as well as DensDeck, vapor barriers, and metal decking on the facility's roof. We have taken the “lessons learned” from managing, repurposing, and constructing facilities and directly applied it to our new design and build. We continue to find ways to accelerate the construction, occupancy, and scaling timeframes at QTS Ashburn. It is our goal in this New Year to apply this expertise and deliver the same value and innovation to the hyperscale community.
